About K9 CPR Trainer

OUR STORY

From Idea to Innovation in Veterinary Simulation

K9 CPR Trainer, formerly known as I-Town Design, is a software and embedded design firm based in Ithaca, New York, founded in 2009 by David Weiner, with Terry Kelleher joining as a partner soon after. What began as a consulting business focused on web applications, hardware design, and Linux-based embedded systems grew into the development of veterinary simulation tools.

In collaboration with Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, I‑Town Design created Open VetSim, an open-design canine CPR simulator. The company provides both hardware designs and pre-built systems under open licensing.

This work evolved into the K9 CPR Trainer, a refined version of the original system featuring a canine manikin, controller box, air pump, RFID auscultation zones, and a manager laptop with open-source simulation software. The trainer is now used by veterinary schools, RECOVER instructors, and emergency response teams across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

Today, K9 CPR Trainer continues to support the veterinary training community through consulting services, custom scenario development, refurbishment and repair options, and free software updates.
